There are many challenges to protecting the headwaters of the Lehigh River and its watershed, including:

  • The Loss of Streamside Buffers and Vernal Ponds
  • The Spread of Invasive Species
  • The Loss of Native Species

North Pocono CARE carries out educational programs, monitors conditions, and takes necessary actions in order to meet these challenges and protect our waters and watershed.

What do we stand to lose? Find out about the Barton Property in Clifton Township (Lackawanna County, PA) which could be surrounded on three sides by a data center. This conservation easement, in existence since the 1980s, is part of the threatened lands in the Upper Lehigh Watershed.
