Dawn of the Data Centers (Clean Energy for All Webinar)

They’re here…This Halloween, there’s nothing scarier than a data center proposal! Across Pennsylvania, data centers are rising up and shambling into our communities, bringing retired power plants back to life and reinvigorating the push to build new polluting facilities. Data centers can be energy- and water-sucking vampires, slipping into neighborhoods under existing siting policies intended to regulate very different industries like manufacturing or warehouses.

In the next episode of the Clean Energy for All series, we tell the spooky story of how we got here, separate facts from fears, and consider how local governments and community members can utilize existing policies to combat current proposals while preparing smart policies in advance of new threats. We’ll also hear from local organizers who are working right now to shield their communities from the worst impacts of data center development.
