SUMMARY:The Wonders of Waterfowl
DESCRIPTION:Join Molly Giles\, Biologist with the Pennsylvania Game Commission\, to find out interesting facts about ducks\, geese\, and swans. Waterfowl have special adaptations that help them survive in aquatic environments.  We’ll learn about the food resources they need\, how they nest and raise their young\, and the awesome annual migration that these birds undertake every fall and spring. \nMolly will lead a discussion on how the PGC manages waterfowl populations using survey and marking birds with leg bands and GPS transmitters. We’ll also talk about the importance of our wetlands and the benefits they provide to wildlife and humans. \nGreat program for kids and families!

Identifying bugs that fish eat… \nPlease join our Master Watershed Stewards for what is one of the most important events on the North Pocono CARE calendar.  We collect insects in the river\, separate\, categorize and count their numbers.  This helps assure that the river water quality is not getting impacted by any development upstream. \nBring wading shoes and a towel. Wonderful program for kids and families!
